VISUAL INSPECTION

The Plug

Firstly, we check the plug for signs of cracks, damage or heating. We then check that the connections are tight and that the plug is correctly terminated. Then we ensure that the correct fuse rating is used and that the cable anchorage is secure.

The Cable

The cable is checked for lumps, bumps hard or soft spots and that there is no damage to insulation or cuts to the cable, and that there are no connector blocks or joins with insulation tape etc.

The Appliance

The appliance itself will be checked so that the on/off switch works correctly, no signs of overheating and that there are no missing screws, damage or cracks to the casing.

ELECTRICAL TEST

The following tests will be carried out where appropriate;

  • Earth continuity test
  • Insulation test (or earth leakage measurement)
  • Flash test
  • Load test
  • Operation test
  • Earth leakage test
  • IEC leads will be tested and labelled separately. Please note that a "Y- lead" carries two seperate
    tests

PLEASE NOTE THAT EACH APPLIANCE INCLUDING I.T. EQUIPMENT WILL NEED TO BE POWERED DOWN FOR A FEW MOMENTS WHILST TESTING TAKES PLACE!!

Microwave Leakage Testing

In addition to PAT testing we also provide microwave leakage testing.

Microwave radiation is both odourless and invisible. Leakage can be caused by slamming the oven door, leaving food particles in the hinges or seals and moving the oven around and general wear & tear.

A radiation intensity of only 5mw/cm2 is classed as being harmful, regular testing enables the identification of defective leaking microwave ovens.

We use the most advanced microwave leakage meters for your safety and peace of mind.
